Headless horseman

My headless horseman I think is ready to paint

Headless horseman

So after a lot of deliberation I decided to scrap my horse armature and start again with stronger wire so I didn't need anything else supporting it for it to be able to reer. I'm quite happy with the armature that I have made.
I drilled some holes big enough for the wire to fit in and used seal site glue to secure my armature in place. Then it was time to pack my horse out with tinfoil, I have a few different designs for my headless horseman, but first I wanted my model to atleast replicate a horse.
After adding a lot of packing and sculpey and attaching my armature for the headless horseman, I sat and looked at my horse for about three hours and just totally wasn't happy with it , so on I went to stripping it down back to the wire frame, at this point feeling defeated and deflated ha ha !
Feeling better already now my horse is a skinny wire frame again I decided that the more realistic I tried to make my model that the worse it was looking , so back to the drawing board and back to my designs.
I think my horse and horseman both look good slender and long and creepy, after all they are both dead! I think I need some more sections of chipboard for my graveyard setting. But first my horse needed finishing once and for all.
After sitting back and looking at my horse and research and designs for another hour I realised it was the head I wasn't happy with this time so off it went, it's a shame it couldn't of been a headless horse with a headed man
Already feeling a lot happier with the shape of my horses head, now it was time to sort out my horsemans arms and hands as with wrapping the wire around and around to attach his hands I had given him really fat wrists which really isn't an option so off with the hands and more detail for my horse too .
Closer detail of the hands I am a lot happier now, now I need to add some detail and finish off my horse I will upload a photo of the raw finished horseman before I paint and add finishing touches soon.

Headless horseman armature

I made a simple armature for the horse for my headless horseman model however it wasn't strong enough after bolting its rear feet into my chipboard so I had to re do my armature , I'm glad this happened as my new armature is much stronger . I've started packing it out with tinfoil and you can almost see that it's a horse rearing on its back legs , he needs a lot more fat so more pictures to come.

Business cards

My business cards have arrived! I chose a very simple design with contrasting colours appealing and clear to see.
Really impressed with the quality and the display box is a nice complimentary touch , I would definitely recommend moo to anyone wanting to purchase business cards.

Final major project

Some photos of my progress with my final major project - to design and create a proposal for a stop motion animation version of the legend of sleepy hollow - the book by author Washington Irving comments and advice welcome !

I took some photos of my friends in different poses to help me with the design process

I have been experimenting with super sculpey during my design process , this has helped me get a better vision of how I want my main character Ichabod crane to look. In the book he is described as a lanky long loose limbed big hands big ears and cowardly character it's been fun to explore the possibilities.
I have been experimenting with different sizes and shapes of armature for Ichabod crane and for the horse for the headless horseman. So far I am pleased with my progress , my final design a are complete and now it's time for me to stop experimenting and start making I will keep my blog updated from now on .
